Lots and Lots of Felting!

Hey, I haven't posted here for a long time!  Time to get caught up.   Read on....

In September, I had surgery to take care of tendonitis in my foot.  I have been on leave since then, and will return to work after November 29.  Twelve weeks!  Besides the recovery aches and pains and frustrations with not being able to drive or really be independent from relying on others to help me, I've had a grand time while following doctor's orders.

I have watched TV, read books, surfed the Internet, checked in at work and even did some online work.  But mostly, I have been knitting and felting.  I made about ten felted handbags!!  First I knit the huge bag, then run it through the washing machine in hot water for a few cycles, and then shape it and let it dry.  When dry, I sew in a lining, closures and clasps and attach the handles and other hardware.  I have the linings made, I just have to hand-sew them into place, and I'll be well ahead of my holiday felted handbag sales!

I usually sell the bags around Christmastime - and up to now, I've basically charged for materials and a tiny bit more, so I'm not getting rich doing this.  It gives me enough money to treat myself to some more yarn to make even more bags or other knitted goodies.

I have a website with pictures and descriptions of each purse or other item I've made.  Check it out here: https://sites.google.com/site/handmadebybarbara/

Too lazy to click through?  Here are a few pics...

I really like how they turned out.  It has been a lot of fun creating these, and the process has kept my mind off my painful foot.  That's a blessing!
